Anand Sharma for Shrewsbury Select Board
About me
Experienced. Hard Working. Empathetic.
That is how friends and family describe me. When it comes to serving the interests of all Shrewsbury residents, I will not back down.
I have called Shrewsbury home since 2001 and live here with my wife Meenu and 2 children Jiya and Arvin.
Born in a small farming family, I received a scholarship for merit in academics from the state government. The scholarship helped fund the high school education in the city. The hardship of a village life and then growing up alone in the city shaped my worldview. I believe that destiny follows with hard work and a positive attitude.
Beyond spending time with my family, I’ve been actively involved in the Shrewsbury community for over a decade. I love to travel and live a health-conscious lifestyle. I’ve learned how to bridge the gap between residents and the broader community, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard.
As a Selectman, I will focus on practical solutions that make a real difference in people’s lives. This includes responsible budgeting to protect taxpayer money, sustainable & affordable housing options for families and seniors, maintaining safe and welcoming public spaces, and fostering open, transparent communication between the town and its residents. I am committed to listening to our community’s needs and working hard to make Shrewsbury a welcoming, affordable, sustainable, and thriving town for everyone.
